On our second night in Barcelona,  Chad’s aunt invited us for a dinner and she let us try some of the local dishes in Barcelona. We came here so late I think it’s around 11:00 pm and the restaurant was still open. The Restaurant is located at the Maremagnum Moll D’Espanya (Port Vell). Maremagnum is a shopping mall and the special with this place is the wooden lifting bridge or known as La Rambla de Mar. A great place to walk around while appreciating the gorgeous view of Port Vell.

How to get there:

The nearest Metro station is the Line 3 Drassanes Station or you can take a Bus: #19 and #40.

We sat indoors and we’re kept cozily warm. The restaurant is too fancy and neat and I totally fell in love with the ambiance that match with a good view from the sea and the harbor. This was the first place we ate at Barcelona and we we’re so excited to try all of the foods to be served. Especially the Paella! The Best Paella I’ve ever tasted was my Mom’s special dish and I want to try the Barcelona’s Paella if they can beat my mom specialty. 📷

Tapas

Chad aunt ordered a lot of varieties of Tapas and I don’t know where to start ’cause I’m sure all of these are delicious! As you all know, Tapas is the kind of food that are served in small plates to be share or should I say “Pica pica” in the Philippines. Much more deeper than that, it conjures  that you are about to enjoy good food, in a warm and friendly setting.

These are the tapas we tried and those seafoods are fresh and it really bursts into your mouth every bite you’ll get. Finally we ate a real food! Thank you LORD! Goodbye Pizza and Pasta! Hahaha! (Since Day 1 of our Europe tour, the only food that we ate was pasta, chicken and pizza and I’m so sick to get another slice of pizza! Ugh!)

Chipiron chipirones a la andaluza

This was actually a baby squid that comes up with the Andaluz style. Andaluz means it’s only covered only by flour without eggs or  any other ingredients and then fried in a large quantity of hot cooking oil. If you want to feel the savour of this dish, you should match it with vinegar. Perfect combination!

📷

Pescaditos de Playa Prito

Also same in the Philippines, we do have some sorts of dishes same as like this so I know the typical taste of a fried baby fish. Mostly Filipino’s, our entrenched habits was we eat fried baby fish in breakfast together with white rice, sunny side up egg, and a cup of hot coffee. Perfecto! Gosh I missed Philippines so MUCH!

📷

Croquetas de Marisco

This is a fried food roll bread crumbed containing seafood’s inside but they can be filled with anything. Actually, I’ve tasted one of these when we we’re in Rome and the thing is it’s not seafoods or what, it’s either ham and cheese, jamon, vegetables, and many to choose from. It’s a perfect take away meal if you are in a rush.

📷

Pan con Tomate

This is the Spanish tomato bread that is simply a toasted bread rubbed with fresh garlic and ripe tomato, olive oil and salt. It’s an easy peasy meal for everyone and it can be done even you’re at home.

📷

Mejillones a la Marinera

This is what I missed in Philippines, Tahong or Mussels! I have no idea what are the ingredients they made for the marinated sauce but I think they put some wine on it. Not sure though but the flavor and texture was really light and smooth.

📷

Paella Arroz Negro

This is the first time I’ve seen this kind of Paella in my entire life and to tell you the truth, It’s so totally delicious! This dish is closely related to Paella and it also uses seafood ingredients and it comes with a good dose of squid ink to turn into a Black Paella.

Paella de Marisco

Remember what I’ve said awhile ago? That I want to try the Barcelona’s Paella if they can beat my Mom’s specialty? For the record, my Mom is still the BEST! Woot-woot! 📷 Well, this is the second best since I’m her daughter. LOL. Just kidding. But seriously, my mom deserves a Medal for making the best Paella in the World!

📷

If you haven’t tried the Paella yet, it is a yellow rice dish that topped with red, green peppers and loaded with a varieties of seafoods or anything you desire.

📷

One of the Restaurant staff explained the specialty of each meal we ordered and I was so busy rushing to my notepad to take down all those info’s. LOL!

📷

Here we are taking our group photo while we we’re enjoying our delectable dinner. We we’re so delighted and grateful for Chad’s relatives for a wonderful dinner treat that makes my heart bigger… and my tummy as well! HAHAHA!
