Iftar is being held during Ramadan which is a spiritually joyous occasion for Muslims and it is the holiest and ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar when Muslims fast during the day for 29 or 30 days, depending on when the crescent moon is sighted. At the time of the call for the evening prayer, Muslims break their fast and celebrate the Iftar on the evening meal together with friends and extended family.

Ramadan has been part of our lives since Rafael came to this World during the holy month so we already had experience the Iftar since last year. We celebrate his 2nd birthday at the Coral Restaurant that can be found inside the Intercontinental Hotel. It was the first time we tried the Iftar buffet and I was quite disappointed on the foods selection and it’s not worth the price we paid for.  I do appreciate Arabic foods but maybe because the choices of other International cuisines are just few and also didn’t meet my standards.

We don’t want to compare the other Hotel’s Iftar but I think this is the best Iftar buffet so far. The restaurant can be found inside Grand Hyatt Hotel located in West Bay Lagoon, just the opposite of the Lagoona Mall. The buffet area is spacious that you can go around in circles. The price for the buffet is 120 QR per person and since we have an Entertainer, it’s an application that can be use on selected restaurants, hotels that offers a buy 1 take 1 promos.

They have these sparkling and shimmering entrance going to the dining area.

The dining area was not that crowded and as you can see, the tables and chairs are not contiguous since it has enough space for all the guests.

So let’s take a little tour around their buffet, starting from Salads.

📷

They also has a lot of varieties of bread and cheese.

Along with the chafing dish, most of the selections are Arabic cuisine. I tried some of them especially the Salmon, it was an absolute delight!

📷

This section serve you a hot beef soup with noodles. It’s quite salty and sweet for me although it’s good, but I don’t like salty foods so I didn’t bother to get another round.

📷

Ouzi is a popular dish in Levant countries. It is served with cooked lamb, roasted nuts, raisins and served over rice.

📷

Since I don’t eat lamb, they have other selection of meat which is beef. The beef was good and the marinated sauce was perfectly blend in the meat and you can have some sauce if you like to add some flavor.

📷

This is my most favorite part, sushi! Everything is perfect. The thing I love about sushi is I don’t need to order for a cup of rice and a main dish, just order up a sushi and voila! It’s just like a 2 in 1 in a roll!

📷

See those gorgeous sushi? Guess how many sushi I ate? Do you believe that I can eat a big basket of sushi!? 📷

📷

Most people know about me that I really love sea foods than meat. As a food blogger, of course I need to taste each one of them, but I don’t even remember how many rounds did I had with the sea foods? HAHAHA! But to be honest, it was ridiculously delicious!

The buffet includes juices and coffees.

And here we are, enjoying our delightful dinner and we really had a good time. Look at the birthday boy who was currently busy with his meal. Can’t disturb him even taking photos. Hahaha! 📷

I know you’re looking for something on this post, yeah, I know what’s on your mind. Well I’m not totally done yet, so here it is! Welcome to the desserts! Ta-dah! We were truly blown away by all that we saw. They really have lots of variety of desserts and it’s really hard for me which I’m gonna try first. They have Arabic desserts, puddings, cakes, crepes and many more!

📷

I forgot the name of that pudding last on the right but it was one of the best pudding I have ever tasted.

📷

They looked amazing and tasted even better, especially the cheesecake, my all time favorite!

📷

Look at our little man, the desserts catch his attention. I know he was already drooling inside! Hahahaha!

📷

The service was impeccable and the staff are very attentive. The environment and food are beyond expectation. We really had a great time, a perfect place to celebrate with your loved ones during Ramadan and this was the most wonderful Iftar experience we had. Thanks for the great memory and will definitely go back again.
