Day 6 (01 April 2017)
Tips before you go to Nami Island:
Make a reservation seat (ITX Train) on their website. You can find the link written below to this post.Always bring an umbrella if incase it rained.Provide a balance in your T-money so you won’t need to pay cash in the Shuttle bus.If you visit there at the time of a nice weather, make sure to experience the couple/family bike.Don’t miss to take a nice shot at the redwood trees! It would be perfect if you have a partner to come along with you.Try all the foods in Nami Island.Enjoy the view!
ITX Train
Today is a big day for us since it’s is our first time to travel on the train for more than an hour! But before that, this is a DIY itinerary so we really don’t know too much especially we will be far away to Seoul, yes, we’re going to one of the romantic place on Earth, Nami Island! We really scheduled the Nami Island for today because yesterday was raining so we only did is to stay at our Hotel and rest all day. As we expect for today that the weather is not good, well yeah, it’s raining but we still never give up and we move forward for the sake of travelling!
So we started our route in Wangsimni station which is the nearest station to our Hotel, we looked everywhere to find the counter to buy some train tickets but we didn’t find anything so we only follow all the signs that has an itx in the sign board going to Gapyeong Station. As we continuously walking, we didn’t notice that we are already in the ITX Train station without handling any tickets. But of course we didn’t gave up so we ride the train and suddenly, the ticket inspector ask for our tickets and we told him that we didn’t had any because we didn’t saw any ticket counters on our way so he told us that we can pay our seat on the spot. Luckily, the inspector is a nice guy and can speak in English fluently so he didn’t give us a hard time. You can ride the ITX even you don’t have any seat reservation but I think it would be better if we had our reservation especially we had a toddler. On our next visit in South Korea, I’ll make sure we will not make a mistake ever again. You can reserve a slot from their website without any hassle. CLICK HERE for the ITX reservation.

Gapyeong Station
And finally, we arrived at the Gapyeong station! So excited to see the Nami Island!
📷
Raf sleeps all the time because of the weather is cold but the rain is pouring continuously. 📷
📷
So while waiting for the rain to stop, we take our little time to eat some snacks, of course my favorite, fish cake!
📷
Here is the Gapyeong Station time table. The ITX timing runs on a hourly basis, so pretty much there’s only one train every hour with limited seats.
📷
At this point, Chad think we should point out that once after our arrival, we bought a return train (ITX) straight back to Cheongnyani Station because we were afraid that the seats would sell out. The ticket costs KRW 4,300 per person. 📷
Outside of the Gapyeong Station, there’s a Shuttle bus that routes all the tourist spots in the Gapyeong including Nami Island. The bus leaves on the hour every hour, and the bus fare is KRW 6,000. We bought the tickets outside where you can see an office that provides the Shuttle bus tickets. But it’s late when we found out that we can use our T-Money Card. If you miss the bus you can simply catch a taxi, the fare is around KRW 5,000.

This are the Shuttle Bus routes that you can hop in and out for unlimited ride.

Gapyeong Wharf
Yey! We’re almost there! See you in a bit Nami!
📷
From Nami Island Station, we walked for about two minutes to Gapyeong Wharf. At Gapyeong Wharf, there’s a two options going to Nami Island, the Ferry ride and the Zipline. The zipline costs KRW 38,000, which includes admission to Nami Island and a ferry ride back. You need to leave your bulky bags in the lockers at the reception area and you will reach Nami Island in less than 2 minutes. Of course, we didn’t choose the Zipline so we take the Ferry ride. For foreigners like us, you’ll get a discount of KRW 2000, making the price of the ticket to be only KRW 8,000 each. Do remember to show your passport. But honestly, I really want to try the zipline because it looks so fun and seemed like a good way to enjoy a different view of Nami Island from above. But it costs too much and I can’t leave my family and additional, it’s raining! Hahaha! (Too much excuses, eh?)
📷
The ferry comes every 30 minutes, and the journey is about 10 minutes away. So yeah, they’re gonna be going back and forth.

Nami Island
Touchdown, Nami Island!
📷
The first thing comes to our mind that we wouldn’t enjoy this day because of the rain. Well I do love rain but not this time. 📷 But thank God that he suddenly stopped the rain when we arrived at Nami. Feels so lucky!
📷
Namiseom, or more popularly called as the Nami Island, is a half moon shaped isle named after General Nami – who led the victory against rebels back in 1400s. Nami Island is known for its natural landscape, I learned that the island’s electric wires and telephone poles were built underground! The Island is really huge and romantic. This is one of the best place for all ages.

📷
Nami is a place for strolling, biking and other sports. But we didn’t had a chance to ride the couple or family bike because of the weather is not yet calm. So we only did is to picture a lot and appreciate the view, foods, nature and everywhere I look, there is art. Especially the stone figures.
📷
📷
Of course our travel wouldn’t complete without a family photo, right? If you don’t have a tripod or monopad to give you a picture perfect, you can ask nicely to the other tourist to give you a perfect shot with a perfect view!
📷
Nami Island was designated the 14th UNICEF Child-friendly park in the World. Therefore, you’ll see the Unicef Hall, Charity train and various display on the island.
📷
📷
I’m pointing where my country is but It should be “Kamusta Ka”. But how come Raf is pointing at the Italy flag? Is he an Italian on his past life? Goblin, is that you?! LOL! 📷 (Goblin is a Korean series which is one of the best series I ever watched in my entire life!)
📷
Raf is trying to make a pose while waiting for the train to passed by.
📷
You can also meet a bunch of ostrich in the Island. If you wandering in the trees, behold of cute squirrels roam around freely.
📷
📷
Gekko Trees
If you’re in Nami Island, do not forget to have perfect shot with the redwood trees or known as Gekko trees where this was the backdrop for many romantic scenes in Winter Sonata and lots of Korean drama’s too even in the Philippine movie, My Ex’s and why’s. As for me, the best season to visit Nami Island is Autumn. But for now, we’re waiting for the cherry blossoms to bloom. But if I ever got a chance to go back in South Korea, I’ll promise it would be autumn!
📷
Of course, we wouldn’t miss this view! PICTURE PERFECT!

The winter Sonata tribute.

Mother and baby statue
You will see this beautiful statues while roaming around the Island. It’s a heart warming to see this kind of scene especially for the mothers like me. I quit my job just to be with my son 24/7, to take good care of him, to give everything he needs and love him unconditionally. Although I’m not a perfect mom but atleast I know in my heart that he is the reason why I live in this World. (Lights, camera action! hahaha! I’m getting emotinal right now. LOL!)
📷
And yes! I support breastfeeding! I breastfed my son, Raf, for almost 2 years. =)
📷
Here we are waiting for the boat to transfer us back where we came from (Not in the Philippines huh! LOL!) 📷
Thank you Nami Island for a wonderful experience you’ve brought to us. And thanks to God for letting us enjoy this day even though it’s raining. He pour us a lot of blessings! =)
Our next stop, La Petit’ France!
