We went to South Korea by the end of March so the cold winds and freezing temperatures of winter begin to subside as spring draws near.  So we need to bring some of our coats and warm jackets by that time and it’s really such a struggle when you’re trying to squeeze everything inside a medium-sized luggage without sacrificing fashion. Haha! But you don’t need to bring too much clothes because if you are a fashionista (like me!) there’s a lot of variety of clothes in Seoul and most of them are in a good price!

Now I’m back in Doha, I listed all the places we’ve been to and finally I finished this post and sharing this to you guys. Here are my top list of a must visit in South Korea:

1. Gyeongbokgung Palace

While it may look too similar to some of the other ones like Changdeokgung with the main throne building, there are some differences. Like the pavilion in the lake, and the mountain in the background. Plus this one is more bigger and grander than the other ones, and has the Changing of the Guard ceremony throughout the day. Don’t miss the Changing of Guards ceremony because It’s worth to watch.

Admission Fee: KRW 6,000

Performance Timings:

Sumunjang (Royal Guard) Changing Ceremony – 10:00, 14:00 / 20 minutes per ceremony Gwanghwamun Gate Guard-on-Duty Performance – 11:00, 13:00 / 10 minutes per ceremony Sumungun (Gatekeeper) Military Training (outside Hyeopsaengmun Gate) – 09:30, 13:30 / 15 minutes per ceremony

2. Myeongdong

Myeongdong is one of the best place for you to buy all your daily needs and even clothing and make up’s. And did you know that Myeongdong is one of the most popular for the food districts in Seoul.

3. Nami Island

One of the best and must to visit in South Korea is the Nami Island. Do not forget to have a perfect shot with the redwood trees or known as Gekko trees where this was the backdrop for many romantic scenes in Winter Sonata and lots of Korean drama’s too even in the Philippine movie, My Ex’s and why’s. As for me, the best season to visit Nami Island is Autumn. But for now, we’re waiting for the cherry blossoms to bloom. But if I ever got a chance to go back in South Korea, I’ll promise it would be autumn!

Admission Fee: KRW 8,000

 4. Bukchon Hanok Village

Hanok is Korean traditional houses and Bukchon is where the aristocratic classes lived during the Joseon Dynasty. Certain hanoks are still resident occupied while most of it were converted into chic galleries, restaurants, cafés and accessory shops. The Village consists of many hilly slops and small alleys and make sure to pick up a map before you wander around.

5. Changdeokgung Palace

What I loved about Changdeokgung was how preserved everything was. It was as if I stepped back in time. We visited in the morning and it was peaceful and calm, even if we was around this group of children who were on a trip. There were no crowds and we could take our time checking out the pavilions without having to battle it out with other visitors. We’re actually planning to return next time in a Hanbok, soon!

Admission Fee: KRW 3,000 for the Palace entrance. Secret Garden Tour cost KRW 5,000. (Secret Garden comes as guided tour and has a specific timing for it.)

6. Jinhae

It is one of the best travel spot to visit during spring festival. Every year in Jinhae, an estimated 340,000 cherry trees burst into an ocean of pale pink blossoms. It’s said to have one of the biggest concentrations of cherry blossom trees in the World.

7. Gyeonghwa Station

The Gyeonghwa Station has one or more locomotive engines but the station is now used for tourism and not for public transport. This is one of the main spots for the Cherry Blossom Festival so prepare to face a big crowd.

8. Dongdaemun History & Culture Park

It is a quite pleasant place to spend a bit of time walking round, a good few photo opportunities. We went inside and walked around some of the shops, but wasn’t impressed with the shops, but it was quite busy, so I suspect they are popular with the locals. You can also find here the 21,000 LED lit roses onto its rooftop park. By day, it’s an exquisite rose garden of human creativity, steady hands and careful diligence. It also known as LED Flowers in Dongdaemun.

9. N Seoul Tower

Did you heard about the love locks in Seoul? Well, here it is. You can found it on the top of the building of N Tower. Lots of tourist visiting here especially young couples. Like the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris, couples head to the tower to lock their “padlock of love” onto the railing and to dream that their love will last forever. If you want to put a love lock on the bridge, you can found a shop that sells variety of locks along with a pen.

10. La Petit’ France

Petite France is a French-style theme park that was constructed in July 2008 in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It is a small village type that looks like you already visited the France. You can visit this place after Nami Island if you have much time to roam around.

Admission fee: KRW 6,000

11. Lotte Mart

One of the best to try some local foods is in Lotte Mart. Most tourists visit here to buy some of their items so you can bring it to your family and friends, in short, we called it as a “pasalubong”. Make sure to buy some of it before the day of your departure. We went to Seoul Station which is we heard that it’s the main branch of Lotte Mart but there’s a lot of Lotte branches all over South Korea so you won’t be worry to travel a long ride.

12. Ewha Womans University

Ehwa is one of the best-known universities in South Korea, also considered to be one of the top universities in Korea. It’s a one must shop around the universities because these are the places where you will find the best bargain since Korean students are very good at looking trendy on a budget. And it’s a shopping haven for women!
