25th October 2017

This was our last day in Paris and before heading to the airport we visited the Montmartre. Since our plane going to Rome was an evening flight we still have time to stroll around in the morning. We checked out early at our Hotel and they allowing the guests to put their luggage bags in Hotel’s locker room. There are so many options on how to go to Montmartre but as usual, as a budget traveler we took a ride through Metro and make sure you drop off at the Abesses Station which it is the nearest station in Montmartre.

ABESSES STATION

HOW TO GET THERE:

From Denfert Rochereau station, Take Metro Line 4 or 6 going to Gare Montparnasse Station then transfer to Line 12 and drop off to Abesses Station. Take the exit at Rue des Abesses.

Abbesses station is on Line 12 of the metro in the 18 Arrondissement in Paris. Abesses was named after the nearby Dames-de Montmartre abbey and it is one of the deepest stations in Paris at nearly 36 meters. The Abbesses metro still has the full canopy, lights and signs of the art nouveau period; great to photograph. Close by is a small park, busy with locals and tourist alike. A place to wander around before the impact of the crowded Sacre Coeur area.

The elevator is surrounded of the tourist attractions in Montmartre.

Metropolitan is the gateway to explore the Montmartre and it boasts one of the most photogenic entrances to the metro.

📷

Before heading to Sacre Cour, there’s a lot of attractive buildings you’ll pass by.

📷

The stairs on our back is the way going up to the hill to the Sacre Coeur. If you don’t want to take the stairs, there is another option which is the Funiculaire de Montmartre. The funicular has a long queue so we rather take the stairs.

📷

Rafael wants to go up by his own and he doesn’t mind if he fell down. Silly kid.

📷

We arrived in the hill with our tongue out while catching our breath. If you’ve got even the slightest knee or leg pain, or even a junior blister with ambitions to become something more, avoid the stairs out of this Metro station and take the elevator. Hahaha!

Basilica du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre

But when we reached at the top of the hill in Sacre Cour, all the pain in my legs has been disappeared. Sitting in the stairs with the big crowd, while listening to a live performance that match with a perfect weather, it was really relaxing and it’s good for those who need a peace of mind or just take a sit anywhere you’ve wanted while reading your favorite novel book.

📷

Even our little travel was enjoying the view while listening to the music. The place was so peaceful and great to visit for all ages.

📷

After an hour of enjoying the view, we went inside of Sacre cour and as with the Notre Dame, this is also one of the beautiful church I’ve been too and that has a constant stream of tourists. The inside is breathtaking, but plan on being jostled by the tourists who don’t have a concept of personal space. If you’re religious, there are a few places to stop to say a quick prayer and light a candle. A couple of souvenir shops to get yourself a crucifix or rosary.

One thing I love about this place is they have numerous live band singing to any corner of the streets and you can give them tips for their great performance. And it’s really funny that every time there’s a live band performing, Rafael will sit anywhere he’d wanted and just listening and staring at the instruments.

📷

Look at him! It looks like he’s one of the band member. Hahaha!

📷

Along the way you will see a varieties of souvenir shop going to Place Du Tertre. Since it’s our last day in Paris, we bought some souvenirs; key chains, mugs and fridge magnets for our family & friends back home.

📷

While we keep moving forward, there’s a lot of restaurants you will passed by and we tried this Baguette sandwich.

📷

The bread was so hard to eat but the meat and spread inside has a perfect combination.

Place du Tertre

The hilltop of Montmartre has the quaint charm, exciting history and artistic tradition. You will see this amazing different artist styles capturing forever portraits. It’s a busy tourist spot with many artists selling their paintings, drawings and caricatures and they’re rather expensive a nice, authentic souvenir but no pressure to buy. They seemed happy for you to watch. A few bars & restaurants around the square add to the atmosphere.

📷

Tutti Sensi

This has the most amazing choice of ice cream, so many it was very difficult to choose what to try because they all look delicious. This was surprisingly good and has the very strong flavors and excellent creamy texture. I will definitely come back for this!

📷

You can mix by 2 flavours, so we’ve got the Cafe and I forgot the other one. Haha!

📷

Moulin Rouge

Our last route in Montmartre is the Moulin Rouge which is the cabaret in Paris. This was a beautiful spot to take photos but we didn’t go inside because the show was expensive. So we just stayed outside and took some pictures while I’m trying the Marilyn Monroe iconic pose but it looks like I’m having a diarrhea! LOL!

📷

While Raf keeps on jumping, running and he enjoys the air comes up into his body. The people around him was looking and laughing at him and he even took a group selfie with a bunch of girls. (Not on our camera.)

Orly Airport

It’s easy to take a public transport through Bus near to our Hotel going to Orly airport. Just a 2-4 minutes walk from Hotel Du Lion (our Hotel) going to Denfert Rochereau Station (no need to go inside the station) the Orly bus is already outside in the station. If you have lots of luggage I do suggest you’ll take the Orly bus rather than the Metro it will be very difficult for you but make sure you’ll arrived at the Orly bus by 30 minutes before the arrival. Ticket costs 8€ per person and it departs every 8 to 15 minutes more or less. Travel time to Denfert Rochereau to Orly airport about 25-35 minutes.

Traveling hours:

From Orly: 06:00 am to 12:30 am

From Paris: 05:35 am – 12:00 am

📷

We bough our tickets going to rome thru Vueling that offer much cheaper rates. Paris to Rome will only take 2 hours flight but honestly, I hate airplanes but I do love traveling. How I wish I have a power to teleport, eh?
