26th October 2017

Another one fine morning, the sun comes up so bright around 14 degrees, a good weather and I’m craving for ice cream before heading to the Roman Colosseum. Honestly, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Colosseum. It’s worth of your energy and your time!

📷

Re di Roma Station

Went straight to the nearest Metro (Re di Roma) just a few minutes walk from the Hotel. If you have kids with you, there’s a play ground in the park where the Metro located.

📷

How to buy tickets:

On the underground of the Metro, there’s a vending machine where you can buy the train and bus tickets. We bought the single ticket that costs 1.50€ per card and valid for 100 minutes, allowing you to switch bus lines if there is no direct service. On the metro you can switch Metro lines at Termini Station with one ticket. There’s an English option so you won’t be worry to much for buying tickets in their vending machine.

📷

How to get there:

From Re di Roma station, straight to the MEA Battisni drop off at the Termini station then transfer to MEB or MEB1 Laurentina going to Colosseo.

Re di Roma to Termini MEA (Battisni)

The train going to Termini station is too crowded and I think most of them are students. Just make sure you’ll be careful with your belongings because most of the pickpockets are tend to work in Termini station as well as at the metro (subway). Even though everyone was looking serious and tired, I’ve got a lot of smiles in my pocket. Haha!

Termini to MEB or MEB1 Laurentina (Colosseo)

And here we are waiting for the train from the Termini going to Colosseo and it’s not that crowded unlike going to Termini.

📷

Finally arrived and I was so busy searching where to buy tickets for the Colosseo.

📷

ROMAN COLOSSEUM

This is our first time to visit Rome and I’ve always dreamed of visiting this magnificent structure that I only seen in some of movies that I watched; Jumper and Lizzie Mcguire. The Colosseum is just the opposite of the Metro and I fell completely in love just even looking at this from blocks away that gives me goosebumps.

Guided Tour in Colosseo

We we’re planning to buy tickets online but when we saw a Filipino who’s offering a guided tour, from Colosseo, Palatine Hill to Roman Forum for 25€ per person. We avail the tour for 4 persons and since we arrived late they informed us that we can continue the tour until tomorrow.

📷

The actual price for the entrance fee is just 12.50€ per person if you’re planning to do it on your own. However, the line to the entrance is quite long unlike availing this guided tour where you can enter on priority.

📷

And of course having a guided tour makes you more understand  and appreciate the Historical sites.

📷

The Colosseum also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of travertine, tuff, and brick-faced concrete. It is the largest amphitheatre, ever built. The Colosseum is situated just east of the Roman Forum. Construction began under the emperor Vespasian in AD 72, and was completed in AD 80 under his successor and heir Titus.

Although partially ruined because of damage caused by earthquakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum is still an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome. It is one of Rome’s most popular tourist attractions and also has links to the Roman Catholic Church, as each Good Friday the Pope leads a torchlit “Way of the Cross” procession that starts in the area around the Colosseum.

After an hour of the tour, we can explore the whole Colosseo by our own. Take as many pictures as you want and admire each corner of the site. Such an amazing place with so many historical sites.

📷

While our little traveler enjoys the place even it’s too crowded by the tourists.

On the upper level, I was fascinated looking at something that has lasted millenia that lives and kept in so many years! Can’t believe how did they found and collect all of these.

📷

Our tour guide informed us about the stairs would be really steep but it’s worth of your energy if you reached the top of the Colosseo, it was breathtakingly spectacular & I didn’t feel any fear or whatsoever!

📷

Strike a pose for the Espinosa’s! <3

📷

My Mother in Law loves taking selfies even though she’s already tired. Haha! For the sake of Selfie. “The Selfie Queen!”

📷

The Colosseum is more beautiful during sunset and it’s gives you a great match of pink and blue backdrop for your photos.

📷

Heading back to our Hotel there’s a man (I don’t know if he’s a man or a woman!) just standing and dressed up like an Egyptian mummy. I don’t even know how long he stays like this and if someone stole his money how can he run with his costume tied up. (Hahaha.)

📷

LA FOCACCIA

It’s about 10:00 pm in the evening and we’re craving for some food but most of the shops are already closed. Luckily along the road we found a shop that still taking orders so we didn’t hesitate to go inside.

📷

They have pizza (of course) and PORK! Sorry for my exclamation mark in the pork. If you lived in the Middle East for a long time, you’ll know what I mean.  So i’m not just over-reacting, i’m just excited and mixed emotions. LOL. (Sorry for my face! Haha)

We ate our food in the Hotel and it was great. We felt like locals for eating their local foods, but gosh, I missed rice SO MUCH!
